CARLO MIRABASSO

Carlo Mirabasso was born in Tivoli in 1959 and trained at the First Art High School of Ripetta in Rome, where he graduated in 1979. During the 1980s and 1990s, alongside his painting practice, he worked in advertising graphics and illustration, collaborating with various agencies and publishing houses.

In the early 1990s, he began an independent pictorial research that led him toward a personal interpretation of Metaphysical painting. During this period, he developed a technique on panel that became central to his artistic practice, marking the beginning of a mature and distinctive creative path. Since 1996, he has dedicated himself entirely to painting.

His work presents an enigmatic vision of reality: images, places, and situations are reinterpreted through a suspended, metaphysical dimension where memory and everyday life intertwine. His influences range from the Italian Renaissance to the metaphysical painting of Giorgio de Chirico, as well as modern and contemporary art.

In Mirabasso’s paintings, formal research and poetic tension coexist, aiming to convey a sense of serenity and contemplation in contrast with the pace of contemporary life. The subject is never a fixed meaning: the artist invites viewers to construct their own interpretation, also guided by the title of each work, which becomes a key to multiple readings.

He has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including Rome, Milan, Florence, London, Auckland, Taipei, and Marbella, establishing a consistent international presence. He lives and works in Bastia Umbra, Perugia.
